For each Crybaby Subscription Box, we think that it’s very important to highlight the makers and the movers that made each box happen. The purpose of the box is to spread support and love while also supporting creatives and their endeavors. (There are a few boxes left and they will be available again at the start of the new year!) These are their stories.
Creative illustrator, Adele McKenna says she's been a member of The Crybaby Club from the second she was born. She was drawn to us on Instagram, because she appreciated the break of being overwhelmed by photos of "perfect" lives all the time.
"I appreciated a platform that celebrates and encourages facing your emotions so honestly and head-on," Adele said. "Especially in a place where we mostly only see the perfect/share-worthy moments of each other's lives."
Adele values emotions because she feels that they are a shared experience and full of energy.
"I think emotions are pure energy--you can't destroy them or make them disappear," Adele said. "When you ride out your emotions and learn what you can from them, you get to convert that energy into something beautiful."
In creating something with your emotions, you are sharing your experiences with the world and showing other individuals that it's okay to feel what they are feeling.
For this box, Adele utilized her emotions to create an iron-on patch. The patch features a "fed up" horse declaring itself a unicorn.
"I actually made this design as a form of motivation for myself to stop thinking I wasn't born with the talented 'required' to do the creative work that I want to do in my life," Adele said.
It's a reminder to believe in yourself and your own talents and to create things your way.
